GREAT NEWS!!! "1985" By now you all know that our song "1985" has been released by another band, Bowling For Soup. Well the great news is that it is BLOWING UP! It's a funny story how this came about. The lead singer and songwriter of BFS , Jaret Reddick, got a hold of "1985" from the new SR-71 CD HERE WE GO AGAIN and loved it and wanted to record it for their new CD, A HANGOVER YOU DON'T DESERVE. We were so flattered that we said hell yeah! He did a little work on it lyrically to make it more Soupish while they recorded it and the next thing you know - IT'S A HIT! We are so proud of those guys. The 2 bands have been friends for years. We met through a mutual friend, Butch Walker, who was producing their last CD at the time (the one with The Girl all the bad guys want) and actually produced this one as well. We've talked about working together for the last 5 years so this is a nice surprise. So don't forget, while you are requesting -- no make that DEMANDING "In Your Eyes" by Mitch Allan, throw in a shout for "1985" by Bowling For Soup.

Hey Everybody, By now you may have already heard the rumors about some 'BIG NEWS' that we are about to announce. That news is that we are not releasing the next Cd as SR-71 in the States, It will be released as just ... MITCH ALLAN. That's right...it won't be an SR-71 record. Now before anybody says "what the F@#k "???....THIS IS NOT THE END OF SR-71!!!! This is just something else we need to do right now. As you know, Our new CD, "HERE WE GO AGAIN" just came out in Japan. We will also be touring over there soon so don't worry...this is just a way for us to put out some new material that doesn't quite fit under the SR-71 name. That means (if you read between the lines) that the American release will have different songs than the Japanese one. There will be some crossover like "In Your Eyes" and "Mosquito", but there will also be new songs that are a litte more singer/songwiter-ish... thus the moniker, "MITCH ALLAN". Also, just so you know, the band is not changing at all. It will still be myself, John, Mike and Pat and we will still be playing some of the SR songs live, but as of the 21st of June, we will be playing more of the new stuff and trying to get you guys to call all your radio stations and request "In Your Eyes" by MITCH ALLAN. Think about this as a new chapter in the bands evolution. We have just signed 2 new record deals and have a completely new management team. Along with that we have added this new spinoff group - MITCH ALLAN. We think you guys are gonna love the new material. If you don't already have a copy of HERE WE GO AGAIN then hurry up and buy the import, there's gonna be another CD before you blink. Thanks for everything you guys, we could never have made it this far without you. Oh yeah the tentative title for the new cd is:"CLAWING MY WAY TO THE MIDDLE" but until then please request "In Your Eyes" at radio.- M I T C H

» Jeff Reid
We are sorry to announce the terrible news that original bassist for SR-71, Jeff Reid, passed away on Friday (06/11/2004). He fought a long, hard and brave battle with cancer and he will be missed by many. Even though Jeff left the band in November of 2002 we feel like we have lost a brother and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family. » LETTER from MITCH! (02.04)

Hey everybody it’s Mitch. I’m sitting here in the studio finishing up the recording of our new CD and I realized that I haven’t written anything in a LONG, LONG time. First off let me say I’m sorry. I’ve been busy busting my ass recording our new disk and all the while trying to put the pieces of my life back together. With all this going on, I haven’t felt much like writing until now. For those of you who know, it’s been an unbelievable 14 months. It all started last December 2002 with the departure of Mark and Jeff. Cut to February 2003 and everyone at RCA records was fired…including us, and then this past summer my two and a half year relationship with my girlfriend (…yes the girl I wrote “My World” about) ended…badly! In between nervous breakdowns and parting ways with our management company, the band and I found the time to write a new CD. Sounds like a fucking nightmare doesn’t it?! Well it was, but we’re on the backside of all of that now, and I can’t begin to tell you how much better I feel about life. They say anything worth having is worth going thru hell to get and I believe that. In December 2003 I decided to go to Peru for 2 weeks and hike thru the mountains along the Inca Trail to the lost city of Machu Piccu. My friend Kelly told me that it would be a life changing experience, and it was. It was the most beautiful place I have ever been to. Let me say that once you hike over 14,000 foot mountains, you begin to see life in a whole new way. I came back home determined to get this record done, find new management and get this f*king freak show back on the road! So that being said, I’ve decided to show you guys a little of my life over the last year. I’m going to post some pictures from my trip to Peru, post some new shots of the band, and even a couple pix of our rag tag basement studio that we’ve been recording in. It’s AMAZING what you can do in a basement nowadays. I also want to say thanks for being patient with us while we went through our growing pains. Great things are about to happen so hang out awhile, and I promise to keep you all up to date. - M I T C H
